Stump removal crowns for excavators

A crown cuts the soil around the stump and pulls it out whole. It is the way to remove large stumps while leaving a clean, contained hole, even in tight spaces such as tree-lined avenues and pavements.

Two versions for two kinds of job

Ghisotti stump removal crown for large stumps

Crown for very large stumps

Designed for very large stumps, such as those along avenue kerbs, where you need a clean cut and a tidy extraction without damaging the surroundings.

  • Tree-lined avenues and kerbs
  • Urban areas and pavements
  • Large stumps to remove whole
Ghisotti stump removal crown with root-cutting wings

Crown with root-cutting wings

The side wings cut through the roots as the crown turns: less strain on the excavator and a faster extraction.

  • Stumps in woodland
  • Ground with many lateral roots
  • Forestry work

How it works

  1. Position

The excavator centres the crown over the stump.

  2. Cut

Rotation cuts the soil and roots all around the stump.

  3. Extract

The stump comes out whole, leaving a hole the size of the crown.

Questions about crowns

Which crown diameter do I need?

It depends on the size of the stump and the job. We build crowns of 35, 40, 45, 50, 55 and 60 cm: tell us the stump diameter and your excavator and we will recommend the right size.

When is the winged version better?

When the stump has many lateral roots, as in woodland: the wings cut them as the crown turns, so extraction needs less force.

Crown or auger?

A crown pulls the stump out whole; an auger grinds it on site. If the stump must be removed, choose the crown; if you want the ground ready straight away, the auger.

Will it fit my excavator?

Crowns are fitted to the excavator via a hydraulic motor. Send us the make, model and weight of your machine and we will check compatibility before quoting.
