Stump grinding augers for excavators

An auger grinds the stump and roots directly in the ground, reducing them to chips. There is no crater to fill: the area is ready to level or replant straight away.

How it works

  1. Position

The excavator brings the auger over the stump.

  2. Grind

Rotation reduces stump and roots to chips as the auger goes down.

  3. Level

The chips stay mixed with the soil: the area is ready to level or replant.

Questions about augers

Which auger width do I need?

It depends on the stump diameter and the power of the machine. We build augers from 50 to 150 cm wide: tell us about the stumps and your excavator and we will recommend the size.

What are the spacers for?

A pair of spacers adjusts how much wood the auger removes with each turn, matching the cut to the hardness of the stump.

Can the blades be replaced?

Yes: the blades are bolted on, so they can be replaced when worn without changing the whole auger.

Will it fit my excavator?

Augers are fitted to the excavator via a hydraulic motor. Send us the make, model and weight of your machine and we will check compatibility before quoting.
